Paradise Community Services has been recognized for its innovative, charitable work and volunteerism. Our real reward comes from knowing that we are making a difference by helping people during difficult times, but it is nice to be recognized.
In 2005, Terry and Mimi Van Koughnett, the founders of Paradise Community Services, received the UNITY Award from Palomar Pomerado Health for their extensive community work. The Van Koughnett's have been involved in the PPH Health Care Advisory Council since 2003. The HCAC honored two exemplary council programs, and five local heroes at the Awards luncheon that was attended by over 200 PPH staff, community residents, HCAC members, and elected officials in October, 2005, at the Escondido Center for the Arts. |

July, 2006 - Paradise Community Services received recognition from the Leader to Leader Institute (formerly the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management). L2LI has selected our MomStart program as the program Innovation of the Week for July 19 - 25, 2006. MomStart is a literacy program for Latina women with young children that helps the mothers learn English - reading, writing, and speaking - by immersing them in their children's schools, starting in kindergarten, as classroom and special project volunteers. A benefit of the program is that it can be easily replicated in any community. You can view the entire program details on L2LI's website (click here). It's an honor to have received this recognition, and we are pleased to be making a difference.
