Our background
Paradise Community Services grew out of the disaster of the 2003 Paradise fire in Southern California. The devastating fire destroyed over 200 homes, leaving many families without shelter and basic needs.
In the aftermath of the fire, we learned that many of the local residents were unable to return to their homes because they had been established without meeting basic county permitting requirements. What started as an effort to provide temporary shelter for our displaced neighbors became a mission to respond to a social problem that was previously masked from the eyes of the community.
Our efforts to care for the families displaced by the fire led us to discover a wide range of unmet needs in our own community, and to establish our mission to help our neighbors.
Our mission
Paradise Community Services focuses on families and provides assistance to children, seniors, and individuals in need by offering health and educational programs designed to improve their spiritual and physical conditions.
Paradise Community Services is always grateful to receive donations. We are currently seeking non-perishable food, disposable diapers, blankets, jackets for children, and toys. We ask that all donated items be current, clean and in new or unused condition. Please call us at 760-751-8692 or email us to arrange delivery or pickup in the San Diego County area. Our work with survivors of the 2003 Paradise Fire brings us in contact with many families and individuals who haven't yet recovered from the disaster. Many are still living in temporary residences. Most of them lost everything in the fire. Thank you for caring.
